ANNOUNCING GENESIS...

So glad the time has arrived and our very own dreams have taken flight. Our first (and let's pray only) attempt to make the Book Club we've all wanted to be a part of. The only requirement for this club is to meet-up once a month to discuss our monthly read in the NYC area, and a LOVE LOVE LOVE and RESPECT for all things on print.

The internet is over-rated sometimes. Let's take it back to the ol' school days/ways...

Our first read is....

THE SHACK by William P. Young

Meet-up date, time & Location is revealed by INVITE ONLY!

Can't wait to see you all there.

XOXO,

Tica & Priceless

  1. I love reading (not just b/c I'm an English teacher either), just always love to read. I was almost giddy when I saw this first book, it's on my list of books to read!! I just started the Stieg Larsson series (The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo). Hope to finish to get the Shack next, and join in on the convo!!

  3. Just picked up a copy of The Shack on Friday from the local library, looking forward to really getting into it this week. I've just begun the 4th chapter and so far it's a good, intriguing read. I'm very interested to see how it ties in with the presence of God and if, in any bizarre way, I can relate it to my own personal walk with Him.

Feels good to disconnect from technology (internet, television, radio) and dive back into the reading world...and I look forward to kicking off some good conversation with other like-minded individuals in the near future.

  4. @ Chocolate Mom- the Stieg Larsson series, the books seems so cumbersome to me, I don't know if they are really "summer reads." I've also heard that they have "slow" beginnings so I will consider when I should tackle those. Right now with the preparations of a REAL LIVE bookclub I'm getting so excited and thinking of creative ways to make this experience worthwhile. The Shack is one of those books I've had to read in doses, it hasn't been a straight-through read, and to answer you CARSON- it has definitely helped my walk!! The protagonist asks questions so honest and human and the transparency of his character is one of those refreshing things about reading it.
    Thanks for joining you guys!

  5. Hey Tracey - I'm loving the first Larsson novel and I have about 40 more pages to go, and I find myself sneaking reads between cooking, potty training, cleaning, and dare I say, even bathroom breaks!!!

  6. Tracey, you're right about the transparency. I think when it comes to human nature, the thoughts and ideas that people have about life and spirituality, we are ALL transparent in the eyes of God. Except often times we have no idea how to voice ourselves so it's refreshing to see the main character let his guard down and let his emotions flow throughout the story, seemingly asking questions that we've ALL asked or wanted to ask. Even more refreshing to see that all throughout, the questions are answered in the most gracious ways. Comforts me to know that this is how it works, providing me with a renewed sense of faith and relationship.
